Olympic Trials Qualifier

Running Accomplishments:

Began running after 26 years of sedentary lifestyle and four children. Took my first 5 hour 10 minute marathon down to sub 3hr in 2 years.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My new goal is to get back to where I was a few years ago; running mainly for enjoyment (and not just to reach a specific time standard) and to reach the highest level of fitness/speed that I feel is possible for me while maintaining a balanced lifestyle.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Conquer the last 10k of The Marathon.

Personal:

Stay at home mom to four kids, married to Matthew, live on a 130 acre farm in Upstate NY.

Buffalo Marathon, Buffalo NY
flat and fast (sea level) course.
partly cloudy, approx 60 degrees. perfect conditions.

Ran easily and comfortably for 16 miles, finished the remaining miles cussing and complaining 45 sec per mile slower. Totally died.

Bright side: I had one of my ugliest races ever and still finished over 10 minutes faster than I usually do in marathons (on flat, fair courses)

Didn't train for this. Rather it was the icing on the cake after competing in the 25k n'tnl chmps 2wks ago. Considering lack of long runs or marathon focus, the outcome was fair and the dying at the end, expected. Still hate marathons. Will probably do another next year anyway.

Congrats on the PR(?). Also, nice job in Grand Rapids.

Congratulations on a PR, right?

I hate marathons too. I believe there is a fine line between hard and retard, and that line is at 20 miles. But marathons pay better than anything else, so if it makes a difference of a few hundred bucks and some media coverage I am willing to run another 6 in the retard zone.

Katie, I was wondering if you could help me out. I was interested about the Finger lake 50s , specifically doing my first ultra in the 50k there here in the 2010 season.

I sent an email to fl50s@yahoo.com so if you get one that's from me.
